Page numbers are corrupted in word document

I have new MS Office software. On a document that
converted from WordPerfect to Word, the page numbering is
corupted, numbers are not in sequence. Can anyone help?

Make sure that each section's numbering scheme is et to follow from the
previous section, and not start at a fix number (Insert > Page Numbers... >
Format, or from the header/footer toolbar, which us probably easier to use
any way, just start in the first section, then navigate to all sections
using the header toolbar.)

Documents converted from WP tend to have a *lot* of section breaks, many of
them not strictly necessary. One of the most useful starting points in
dealing with such converted docs is to remove all the breaks.
