Page numbers aren't consecutive

Using the Normal view, if I place the insertion point in the last line
of the second physical 8.5x11 page, the Status bar reads:

Page 2 Section 5 4/22

If I move the insertion point down so it's in the first line of the next
page, the Status bar reads:

Page 4 Section 6 5/22

The only thing between the two pages is one Section Break (Next Page).
What happened to page 3? How do I get it back?

I'm using Word 2002.

You chose to make an even-page section break. That means go to the
next even numbered page, even if it means skipping a page. Your Page 3
is that skipped page.
