Page numbers change when printing

A colleague has inserted page numbers into the header of
his document. He is using the Page x of y format. On
screen and in print preview the page numbers look fine
(page 1 of 3, page 2 of 3, page 3 of 3). However the
printed pages have something completely different (page 1
of 1, page 2 of 2, page 3 of 3). I cannot reproduce this
behaviour on my PC even though we are using identical
laptops, on the same network and printing to the same
printer.

Any help appreciated.

I am having this exact same problem. The link listed
below states that the bug does not affect versions of
Word later than 2000, so if you are using one of them,
this article does not apply. However, I am using Word XP
fully updated and I have this problem. I am only able to
get the pages to number correctly if I do a Print Preview
and print from that preview.

Any other suggestions to make this go away entirely would
be greatly appreciated.
