Page numbers for Index section

B

Bob Tempel

I finally have all the pages in my document numbered as necessary: 1 to 204 in the body, Appendix A, Appendix B. But I want to add, as a last section, and Index. For this Index, I need to number the pages as Index-1, Index-2,…. I formatted the title of this section as Heading 7 -> Numbering, ….and I try to insert the page number into a table on the footer. But the word Index doesn’t show up despite of Header and Footer ->Page Numbering Format window, with the Include Chapter Number checked. Wasn’t that supposed to work exactly the same as for Appendixes ? I do not know how to fix that, I have read everything where I could find an article, but I am helpless ….. Do you have a solution for a desperate guy ? Many, many thanks !

Hi Bob

I'd cheat. Put a section break before the Index. Make sure the footer
for the index section is *not* set to "Same as Previous". Type "Index-"
in the footer and follow it by the { PAGE } field. And set the page
numbering to re-start at 1 for this section.

Hope this helps.
