page numbers in Word 2002 Book fold

Maybe I need to do a little more troubleshooting, but I'm
wondering why, when I opened my Word 2000 doc that had
mirror margins, and went to Book fold, the page numbers
aligned to the inside margins instead of the outside.

Is this related to the inside and outside margins being
reversed in the setup dialog box?

Quite possibly <sigh>. If you used Insert | Page Numbers and chose Outside,
then you have two options: Choose Inside instead or use "Different odd and
even" (Layout tab of Page Setup) and create your header/footer by hand,
placing the page numbers as desired (though I suppose even this isnt
guaranteed). My impression of "Book fold" in Word 2002 is that it's not
ready for prime time. Maybe it's improved in Word 2003, but meanwhile I'm
still using the Word 97 method I describe in
http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/Formatting/BookletPrinting.htm, and it works
flawlessly on any system.

Thanks, Suzanne. When I get done with this booklet, I am going to try both
Book fold and Mirror Margins; then I will post the comparative results.
