page numbers printing incorrectly

In Word 2000 when i insert page numbers on a document the screen displays the
sequence correctly (Page 1 of 7, Page 2 of 7, Page 3 of 7 etc.), but when I
print the document the footer reads Page 1 of 1, Page 2 of 2, Page 3 of 3
etc. I also use Excel 2000 and the problem doesn't occur there. Do I need a
patch?
