Page numbers with prefix (other than heading ref) that is reflected in TOC

I need to add an alpha character prefix to the page number and have it
reflected in the table of contents. Example section 1 has page number P1,
P2, P3 etc., section 2 has page numbers F1, F2, F3 etc., section 3 has page
numbers 1, 2, 3, etc. Prefix is not base on a heading number. Prefix is
effectively arbitrary in each section.

I can easily make it look correct in the footer by simply adding the
required character before the inserted page number, but when the TOC is
generated the inserted character is missing. I think I have to modify the
{PAGE} field code, but I don't see any switches that allows this. Can I
concatenate text to the {PAGE} field code some how?

I'm not totally sure you can arbitrarily set it, but see how much
flexibility Word's Chapter Number feature gives you.
