Page numbers

How do you auto page number, stating with page number 1 but having it start
physically on page 3. This leaves pages 1 and 2 blank, starting the series
at the beginning on page 3.
Thanks

Hi JCO,

I use Word 2003.

What I usually do is, at the end of the physical page 2, Insert>Section
Break>Continuous

The I go to page 3, View>Header & Footer>Insert Page #, >Format Page #

In the Page Number Format box select: "Start at page" and insert #1
(instead of the default of continuing from the previous section).

This should result in automatic page numbering starting at "1", even
though you're on page 3.

Hope this didn't confuse you and good luck with this!

Another thing I forgot to add (my apologies), is that you must remove
the "same as previous section" when you enter your new footer
information, otherwise it will still continue in sequence with the
previous section. You should see a toolbar that gives you that option.

Thanks, that works.
This also answers my other post... which I incorrectly responded back that I
was not able to do.
Thanks again
