Page Numbers

I am placing page numbers in an appendix to an article that I have written. The page number is to be centered on the bottom of the page. When I select this option via Insert Page Numbers, the page numbers appear at the left margin, instead of the center. If I select a left or right placement, the numbers appear as designated. It is only when I request a center placement that the numbers appear on the lower left of the page.

I suppose I could break each page into a section, and add the numbers as footers. However, I did not have this problem with two other related documents when inserting page numbers.

What am I missing?

Re your proposed workaround: you can add the number in any desired location
by viewing Header/Footer, then clicking the Page Number icon on the H/F
toolbar to insert a {PAGE} field wherever you want it, you wouldn't have to
mess with sections at all.
