page numbers

How do I remove page numbers? I know how to insert them but not delete them. I've accidentally inserted them on the top and bottom of each page so they appear twice.

Hi Judith -

Page numbers are inserted as fields in the Headers and/or Footers. To remove
them go to View> Header and Footer, select & delete whichever field you
don't want. Unless you have Sections you only have to make the one deletion
- the page number will be deleted from the H/F of each page.
