page set up

Mel

When I set up a page in office and try to change my margins or anything else in page set up, I get an error message that says " Increasing right margin casus the last column to become too narrow in some sections leaving unevenly spaced columns" THis appears even when I am typing in a plain old word document. Did I do something to screw up a template?

How can I get rid of this message and restore my templates to the basic ones that come with windows XP

Thank you

Hi Mel,

It sounds like you may have encountered a minor bug in the Columns
command. If you use the Columns command on the toolbar does not allow
the column width to adjust to new margin/page setup settings.

Perhaps you used the Columns command remove multiple columns at some
point?

To rectify the problem go to Format/Columns and click "One" in the
Presets.

If "1" is already present in the "Number of columns" that isn't
enough. Note the "Equal column width" option at the bottom, selecting
"One" in the Presets will enable this option an allow the columns
width to adjust to the new margin settings.

Additionally, if this problem is present in the template you are using
to base new documents on you will need to make the same change there
as well.
