Page Setup Glitch -- It changes when I closedocument and reopen it

I have a spreadsheet that I created on Microsoft Excel 2008 for Mac (Version 12.2.1). My spreadsheet is saved on "landscape" but
every time I close it and open it up again it reverts to "portrait." Even
changing it back to "landscape" in page set-up causes my worksheet to fit differently in the print area and I have to resize everything time and time again. It is very frustrating.
I have a MacBook (Mac OS X Version 10.5.7) and am using Microsoft Excel 2008 for Mac 12.2.1.
Can anyone help or should I start a new thread? I'm new to this.
Thanks,
Andrea

sounds like you have a permissions issue with the file so attributes can't change. are you an admin on your system and is it your file?
you can do a get info on the xls file and see if it is somehow write protected.
another possibility may reflect the default display preferences that you have set up. in that case, re-opening the file will conform to the default appearances in spite what you do but the file itself isn't changed. have you ever examined your excel preferences? you might want to go through them some time.
