Page titles

In OneNote 2003 there was a facility for toggling the page title on and off.
I can't find that in 2007 - I want it on my toolbar.
If you use the Screen Clippings facility to bring material into OneNote 2007
it places it on an unnamed page in the Unfiled Notes area.
The official Help says 'To rename a page, click its page tab, and then type
a different name into the title area'. Fine - but what if it hasn't got a
title area?! I have found a convoluted way of giving a page a title AFTER
the event but there must be a quick way - surely?

Check out Format--> Show Page Title
If that menu option is checked, the page has a title area. If unchecked, no
title area. If you check it when a page has a title, the title is removed.

If you want to add the command to your toolbar, go to Tools--Customize and
then to the Commands tab. From the left hand list, select All Commands. From
the right hand list, find Show Page Title. Drag that list item to the
toolbar you want to contain it.

Kathy,

thanks for this but it doesn't do exactly what I want - but I could do in
OneNote 2003. The key word in my posting was 'toggle'. I have put the command
on my toolbar (as you suggested) but if you use it to remove the page title -
it removes it permanently - thus removing the page name in the Pages area to
the right. I want the name to stay there but disappear from the Page itself.
I then want a facility to bring it back (on the actual page I mean) at the
touch of a button. I suppose I am talking about hiding it - not deleting it
altogether.

All this you could do easily in the previous version. I think when
developers remove something that was in previous versions, they should tell
us so we don't go on struggling!!

I guess I'll just have to live with the title being on the page - mainly
because of the page titles on the right.

Ah, I see now. You are confusing "Progress" with non-applicable terms
such as "Ease of use", "Backwards Compatible Interface" and "Experience
Usage Knowledge". This is incorrect. :)

But to be honest of all the office apps I think that OneNote suffers the
least amount from this misconception, although it is definitely not
immune. (No delete warning for pages is one that amazes me, but that is
another topic).

Still, I do think that OneNote 2007 is a much better product than 2003,
if indeed it is starting to show early signs of bloatware. Then again,
if I did not like it as least some amount I would not be in this
newsgroup, so this may be an unfair observation on my part...
