"Page Transition" Problem

C

Chip Mochel

Yesterday I asked about, and learned of, "page transition". When I input a
type of transition effect, and then duration time, for that transition effect
nothing happened. So I set up a new, basic, two page website simply linking
each page to the other to see if I could make it work at this most basic
level. It didn't work. I scoured "site" pull down menus for "enable
effects" type buttons, etc. with no success. What am I doing wrong. There
must be more to it then filling out the simple "Page Transition" box.

In IE, choose Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, and then under Browsing,
select Enable Page Transitions. It's the 11th check box.

Note, however, that:

o This only enables pages transitions on your computer.
o There's no way to be sure that page transitions will be enabled on your
visitors' computers.
o Page transitions slow down the site because IE must receive and render
the whole next page before starting the transition effect.
o Browsers other than iE don't support page transitions.

Jim, if its not too much trouble. I just realized your solution was part of
IE not Frontpage. If I have seen this effect on other websites via my
computer and I tried my little two page site shouldn't it have worked. That
is I have never checked that box you mention but if it was checked by default
(otherwise I wouldn't have been able to see it on other sites) shouldn't it
have worked with my little two page test site?

Are you current running Windows XP SP2, if so then script will not execute from a disk-based web,
you would have to be viewing the site from a http address, which would explain why you can see it
when looking at other web sites.

Thanks Rowe. I am running XP but are you saying that even if I check that
box Jim mentioned the effects will not work in "web browser preview" mode on
my computer? That I would not be able to see it work until my disc based
site is actually loading to an official web site?

This is ahrd to diagnose withouth knowing the aqctual sites, but I presume,
based on your statements, that they're doing their animations with Flash or
some other technology.

FrontPage (surprise, surprise) uses the approach built into IE.
