Page X of Y bug in Word 2002

I use Word 2002 and now have the "page X of Y bug" I
think this has only arisen since I recently download some
Microsoft "upgrades". According to the MVPS site at:

http://www.mvps.org/word/FAQs/AppErrors/PageXofY.htm

this bug does not affect versions later than Word 2000
but I have definitely got it. Has anyone found a fix?
