Pagefold

Version: v.X

Processor: Power PC

My son is getting all sorts of grief working on my Mac, and then having to go off to his mum's place to use her PC, all because Word for Mac doesn't seem to have Pagefold.

In case you don't know what that is, it's a part of MS Word PCs which collates all the pages so that a booklet will print out in the right order etc ready for stapling.

When he puts his saved work into the PC the MS Word there decides to change the size of the area his work fits on the page. He then has to resize everything. One of his pages got really messed up.
He's in a foul mood, and I don't blame him - he's spent ages trying to do this, and is late for hand-in, which is against his principles,,

So..... my question is: does anyone know if there is an equiv for Pagefold?
My research comes up with nothing - except some weird and complicated way of printing the thing, which I can't follow!

I wonder why Mac didn't include such a useful tool in their Word version???

Thanks

John

Hi John:

Well, Microsoft calls it "Booklet Fold".

Daiya has some interesting techniques for printing booklets from Mac Word
here: http://word.mvps.org/mac/bookletsfold.html

Or you can use Suzanne Barnhill's method, here:
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/formatting/BookletPrinting.htm

Now: Printing booklet fold is tricky and you will have to keep your mind on
the job to get the result you want :)

There is no good reason why this feature was omitted from Mac Word 2008:
they ran out of time and money, and quite a few things got dropped!

Cheers

You don't even need to read that whole article, if you don't want,
though it fine-tunes the cosmetics. Just google for CocoaBooklet and use
that.

I disagree. CocoaBooklet and other programs have already solved the
problem, giving the users who need this a better service with no effort
from the MacBU. Booklets on WinWord 2007 don't even seem to work that
well, especially with images, and I can imagine it would be a lot of
work to implement. Better for them to spend that time on other things.

Thanks for that, Daiya. I've downloaded it and with the 'readme' there should be no more problems.
Kind of you to help.
