Pages changing size with DWT - HELP, please

B

~Brenda

I am still working on a website for a fellow who *INSISTS* upon editing my
htm pages (made with FP2003) with Word.

I am about at my wit's end because I have pages that are changing size, and
I can't figure out how to force them to be the same size.

http://www.pagey-dna.org/

http://www.pagey-dna.org/y-dna_testing.htm

I don't care WHICH page the whole website ends up to be, but I would like
both pages to be the same size, and I'm stumped as to what to change.

HELP, please. I don't have any images that would be forcing it to change
sizes...

THANK YOU for any help you can give me.

Update -

I've given up on the y-dna_testing.htm page and have put it back like my
friend wanted to see it. It's not the way *I* would like to see it, but I
couldn't figure out how to make the area in the right column be the same
exact size as the index.htm page.

If someone could please tell me what I should have done, I will be more than
happy to make both pages exactly like... but I hate to see pages that keep
changing size...

THANK YOU,
Brenda

Adding to this question --- is there something that I can add to the
index.htm or index.dwt file, so that the table on the right *CANNOT* change
size?

Thank you again,
Brenda

Time to tell him to pound sand.

You're gonna continue to go nuts with Word generated html.

Rob,

I agree. I'm just ftp'ing them now, as he sends them to me, and am not
worrying about it. He has FP2003 and could be using it, but wants to create
docs in Word and save as html... I'm making this HIS problem, not mine. If
this were a paid job, or I were getting at least a "thank you" that would be
one thing, but I'm not getting even that, so...

Thank you for listening to me.

You want a good laugh - look at the website now! It's a ... well... you get
the idea.

I hate to even TALK about this website... it's the saddest excuse for a
website that I've ever seen. I have finally stopped trying to fight it...
He creates his pages in Word and saves them as htm, and then sends me the
pages (without sending graphics) and thinks because they look good to him in
Word, they are going to appear picture perfect once they are up on his
website.

Of course the graphics are always missing. He doesn't grasp the concept
that graphics need to be on the server, just as they are on his hard drive.
He can see them as Word docs, and then as Word htm (if there is such a thing
as "Word htm") so he things the graphics should be included in the htm. He
also doesn't grasp the concept that he needs to view the pages in a browser
before "assuming" they will be on the website exactly as he sees them on his
hard drive. I've pretty much given up trying to teach him anything, and
just take what he sends me, try to correct it to something reasonably all
right, and put it on his server.

The website is (finally) about completed, despite how it looks. One of his
last requests was to have a hit counter on the home page. As if everything
else isn't bad enough, that was the last slap of insult, but he's got a hit
counter on his index, and he likes it. I'm thinking of trying to figure out
how to make the hit counter at least not look quite so abrasive, although he
wants the words "HIT COUNTER" above the numbers, and he wants all of that
inside a box. Could it get any WORSE???

ha!...
can it get worse?
what's worse than having to put up with that and not get paid :)

So why is he having you do what you're doing then...I don't get it...why
doesn't he just upload it hisself?

You're very patient...I woulda lost it a few weeks back.

I disappeared out of sight (HIS sight) for a few days. I can tell you what
is worse than putting up with him and not getting paid ~~ receiving nagging
emails from him and STILL having to do it.

While I had dropped out of sight, because I was fed up with his crude and
demanding emails, he figured it out himself (surprise, surprise) and almost
finished the site himself. He wants me to go back and "fix" something for
him. You can see how concerned I am, because I can't remember what it was
he wanted me to do. Maybe in a couple weeks, I'll go back and read his
email and see what he wants to have fixed. Maybe, if I'm lucky, he'll have
it taken care of by then. <ggg>
