Pages missing from the Navagation structure

I have been having a problem recently that when in MS
FrontPage 2002, I can add a page to the navigation
structure, but it will not show up on the web site.

What I do is in the folder view; I add a page to an
existing folder. Name it and then add the content of the
page.
I then go to the navigation view and place it in the nav
structure when I want it.
After the file is placed I can go vie the site in my
browser and it looks fine
HOWEVER
When I upload the page, and I have tried both changed
pages only and upload all pages, the page does not show
up in the navigation structure.
I can use an ftp program to look at the files on the site
and the file was uploaded, it physically exists on the
site. But it is not in the nav structure.

My current remedy

The only way I have been able to fix this is to copy the
entire contents of the folder I want to update to another
location.
Then in FP I delete the folder with the problem
Publish the changes
Go to the director I copied the files to on my drive and
delete all the "_vti_cnf" folders.
Then rebuild the folder by copying the files back into
FrontPage.
Once the Nav structure is set back up the same way it was
before, I then re-upload the site again.

This time the missing pages show up.

My question is, why is this occurring and how do I stop
it form happening again?

Have you tried the usual repairs
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
3) Run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks

What extension are the temp files and is there a
perticular directory where they will be located?

If I have a site called "mysite" in the "front page webs"
directory, would the temp files be in the "front page
webs\mysite" folder somewhere?

No
Look In Your Windows Temp Folder
