pages on wrong sides

Can anyone help me figure out why, in Word 2002 using Book fold, my document
(seemingly) starts printing on page 1 instead of on page 0?

This results in my title page, introduction, etc., printing on the left
side.

However, when I printed only pages 0 to 1, it printed correctly, i.e. the
left side blank and the right side with the title. But then again, it
followed with a second printing of the title page on the left.

I find this to be very confusing.

Thank you!

Word will normally always put page 1 (and any other odd page) on a recto
page. Normally what will be opposite page 1 using Book Fold is the last page
of the booklet. You should not have a page 0 in a booklet, as this is bound
to confuse Word. If you want a blank page opposite the title page, then it
should be the back of the half-title page, which would then be the true page
1.

Yes, I see clearly what you're saying and how my compensation for the bug(?)
with Book fold caused me confusion.

Now that I have eliminated page 0, I am back to the original problem: page
1 is on the left.

I upgraded so that I could have Book fold, but it seems to have serious
problems. I don't know how accurate the mirror margins are yet, but I am
finding that the problems of Book fold disappear when I go with mirror
margins instead.

This is ironic! Or else I am missing something, but it sure wouldn't be
obvious. I honestly don't see how the average user can get very far with
Word. Whoops -- sounds like I'm whining.

Okay, the recto page problem was an illusion -- it only appears on the left
in print preview or print layout, not in the actual printout.
