Pagination in Word X

When I type or cut and paste copy into a Word X document
(using a Mac G-4 Powerbook, OSX) the document does not
paginate automatically - not even when I change the page
view. I've tried adding page breaks from both keyboard
commands and menu - the copy still just disappears into the
bottom of the page.

I believe in WinWord, this happens when a footer or frame or text box or
something has taken over the whole page, but can't quite remember.

IF this happens with all new documents, see the Testing the Normal Template
section of this link (and Finding the Normal Template)
http://word.mvps.org/MacWordNew/MacWordNormal.htm
(may have to reload a few times in Safari)

If that works, but you have a heavily customized Normal that you'd like to
kept, try opening up Normal itself, selecting All, and deleting it.

If that doesn't work, some questions:

When you say "does not paginate automatically", what do you mean? Do you
mean the dotted lines do not appear?

What views are you checking it in? Normal view, you shouldn't worry about
it. Page Layout view, do you mean no pages appear?
