This is a 950 page book set using Word2003.
I have to return the book to the publishers both in hard copy and on CD,
the latter in one (huge) file, in Word, double-spaced so the printers can
print. The problem is how to set up the pagination. There are opening
pages I don’t want numbering, followed by say, 20 pages of Introduction,
Acknowledgements, Contents and maybe a Preface. I would like to number
these in Roman numerals, and, starting again with 1, the text of the book
in conventional numerals, but I find:
i) I can only format one page to have no numerals at all
ii) that when starting with Roman numerals, the change to
ordinary numbering is not always accepted and the pagination runs on.
Any suggestions please?
