Since i installed office 07 outlook is conflicting with my palm program and
preventing it from updating when I hot sync. I tried resetting my palm
software to override it but it didn't work. I still cannot exchange files
between my desktop and hand held. would disableing outlook help? If so how do
I do that?

AFAIK Palm hasn't released any software yet that is compatible with Outlook
2007. Contact Palm support for an ETA for that.

Ok well that up date didn't work now I get this error message" HotSync Error:
An application cancelled sychronization or failed to respond to a HotSync
notification. Please ensure that you are not currently editing data using
applications such as Palm OS Desktop or Install Tool. (8009)"
What exactly is that supposed to mean?

I tried the same patch along with reinstalling palm desktop, and any number
of other attempts to get my Palm TX to sync with Outlook 2007. I get the
message "The connection between your device and the desktop could not be
established. Please check your setup and try again." Prior to adding the
patch, hotsync would opperate normally until freezing when attempting to sync
documents, forcing me to cancel the hotsync.

I am having the same issue. After paying $25.00 and 4 hours of my time, Palm
couldn't help. They said it works fine with their Palm Desktop software and
that I would have to contact Microsoft for a solution since it is Outlook
2007 that won't sync. If anyone finds a solution, let me know.

it is Outlook 2007 that won't sync.
It's not Outlook that does the syncing but Palm Desktop. Check your pst-file
for errors with scanpst.exe. If it still doesn't work then, contact Palm
support again.

I also have a palm TX. When I originally installed the Palm Desktop and
DocsToGo software on my Vista machine running Office 07, the syncing
operation would freeze every time it got to DocsToGo. I went to the palm
website and there is a $30 (I think) upgrade to DocsToGo which supports both
Vista and Office 07.

Hope this helps.

Roady I am truly sorry and slightly embarassed.

I noticed the date, myself, right after I sent it and figured you would
laugh if you were even notified. Thanks for the sense of humor about it.

I only responded to it because it showed up as part of my search for outlook
and plam.

Can you look at my problem about Outlook crashing during hotsyncing and
during regular use?

Diane, I'm sorry about answering a 2 year old question. It showed up in my
search for Palm Hotsync Outlook crash or whatever I searched, so I answered
it and then looked at the date. I already apologized to Roady.

Now, if I read your question right, you are asking if I installed service
pack 2 or another update around the time the Outlook started crashing? I
vaugly do recall updating MS Office in the HP Updater around then. Does this
mean you might be able to help?

I have another post on the topic, would you mind looking at that one?

so, I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct area, but I thought I'd try
this question here...

I am getting outlook errors when I'm trying to hot sync with my palm centro.
It's been working just fine and then suddenly tonight, it started giving me
"can't initialize outlook", so it won't sync my calendar, contacts, etc. I
have the newest palm download (even with the update) and outlook 2007. Am I
missing something?

so, I'm not sure if I'm posting in the correct area, but I thought I'd try
this question here...

You should post in a Palm-oriented forum or, better, one geared toward the
sync software you use. Outlook is passive in a sync and contains no settings
that control synching. It's all up to the sync software.
