Panther 10.3 and Excel X 'hand' cursor no edit

Hello,

I have upgraded to Panther (Mac OS X) and have found that
excel, with updates to 10.1.5 is lauching into a blank
workbook and then the mouse is a hand cursor and i cannot
edit, enter, or create any formulas and such.
i am stuck with a blank worksheet.
i cannot go to menus, and i cannot quit (Cmd-Q) or close
(cmd-w) so i end up having to do a 'Force Quit'

My install of panther created a fresh drive, and deleted
all my documents, pictures, and applications.
it was like a 'restore cd' rather than a upgrade cd. so i
reinstalled everything, including office x, and the
updates so it should all be fresh and new.

Anybody else experience this problem with excel?
How to fix it? What could be wrong?

Thanks.

Hi Wewa,

In the Macintosh's Utilities folder look for Disk Utility. Run Disk First
Aid and repair permissions It might help.
