paper saving print prompt

Working in an office, I see mountains of paper wasted where people print
things off, have a quick read and throw away.
If companies could install a window that pops up whenever a document is sent
to print informing the user that the default setting is to print double sided
with 2 pages per side, it will save 75% of the wastage. The user will need to
have the option to turn these off seperatly as official documents need to be
single sided, but this will not apply to most of the printing done in most
offices.
Companies will save huge amounts of paper therefore money and trees, it
could be an add on that companies could purchase to add on to their existing
networks.

When I was working I couldn't BELIEVE the numbers of people I watched print
out EVERY SINGLE email, then file them in a filing cabinet! Mind
boggling....

I wonder if we could gen up a nice little macro for these folks. Something
that also replaces every tab character in the document with lots of spaces and
maybe changes every linespace > 1 to multiple carriage returns.

In reality, you only propose to add one more thing to annoy users who
would then make it their primary goal to remove that "useless" warning
from their PC. Simple answer is to charge them a premium for every sheet
of paper they consume.

Besides that, the sysadmin could set up the printer driver to default to paper-
saving settings; the user would have to override those by setting properties in
the printer dialog box.

In HP printers with duplex facility, you can set the default to be print
both sides and if you have a color printer then you can set it to print
as B&W. You don't want any more tinkering with MS Operating System
because it is defective as it is and by introducing more facilities you
only succeed in introducing more bugs. Haven't you seen that we have
been getting tons of patches every month since 2001 and still XP is not
water tight!

Next year we'll get Google Operating System (aka Chrome OS) and this
would be quite secure because it will only include the bare minimum
functions which people use most and anything extra needs to be
downloaded and installed by the user. The default browser in Chrome
will also be CHROME!! Now this is going to be confusing to people who
are Microsoft fanatics.

Chrome O/S will initially be targeted at Netbooks...gonna be a while before
it'll be available for other computers.
