Paragraph Continuation Notice?

T

Tizzy

I would like to create a field or style or something that
I could apply to paragraphs so that, when they break
across a page, will put (MORE) at the bottom of the first
page and (CONT'D) at the top of the second. Any ideas?

I know that there is some kind of functionality like this
that Word uses with the footnote continuation notice, but
I cannot figure out how to use it elsewhere.

Thanks for your help,

Tizzy

There is no such functionality, and I think that such a feature would seem
to assume an incredible amount of stupidity on the part of the reader.

This has nothing to do with reader stupidity, but
matching a format used throughout the film industry for
screenplays.

Thanks for your input.

If the MORE and CONT'D notices are something that continue throughout a
scene (and not just to indicate continued dialog), you could probably work
something out with the header and footer, using section breaks between
scenes, "Different first page" and/or fields to omit header or footer on the
first or last page of a section, etc. If it's just to indicate continued
dialog, you'd probably be better served by software intended for the purpose
of creating screenplays, as the only alternative would be to break the
paragraph and insert the notices manually, which would require constant
manual tweaking during editing.
