Paragraph Marks

I am running Vista Pro and Office Pro. I have problems with (1) paragraph
marks showing on all blank word documents. I have ensured that the normal
template does not have this function initialized. I can enter all characters
correctly, however, when I remove the paragraph marks all typing disappears
and I have a blank page. When I click paragraph marks again all characters
reappear.

(2) If I open a page and click on paragraph marks to remove them, my cursor
disappears however, once I type the first character the cursor reappears and
all text is visible..............but, if I copy the text and place in another
doc or email, it disappears and is only visible when I click on paragraph
marks.

It sounds like the character formatting maybe set to Hidden.
