Hi M -

Version: 2008

I need help, I have a setting that I need to delete. All Word documents
that I open have a paragraph mark, everytime I hit return more appear, I
have customized a document that I created and when I deleted some of the
document I now have formatting boxes on the right of my document. Please
help!

.... And they always will have a ¶ - without them you couldn't have any
paragraphs & without paragraphs you couldn't have any content. Every time
you press return you're denoting the end of a paragraph (even if it has no
content) *and* the beginning of another. They as well as others are
indispensible for a number of reasons.

They can be hidden, but they can't be gotten rid of. Click the Show/Hide
Non-Printing Characters button (¶) on the Standard Toolbar or key Command+8
to toggle the marks on/off. See the following link for more insights:

The illustrations & terminology is PC Word oriented but equally pertains to
Mac Word.
