I have an outlined Word 2002 document that uses hidden paragraph marks to create what I call "Run-in Headings" -- where the Heading is at the beginning of a numbered paragraph, as opposed to the entire paragraph being the heading. The heading part has a heading style on it, then there is a hidden paragraph mark, and the second half of the paragraph has the body text style on it. So just the heading portion will go into the TOC.
The outlined paragraphs are numbered and look perfect in the document. However, when the person who created this document runs the table of contents, the paragraph numbers do NOT appear in the TOC. This is somehow related to the use of hidden text on the paragraph marks because when we remove the hidden text, the number DOES show up in the TOC.
I have tried duplicating the problem with the same document, also using Word 2002, on my computer and cannot duplicate the problem. The numbers always appear in the TOC for me.
Has anyone seen this before?
I don't have access to this persons computer (they are in another city) but I am wondering if it could be a Word setting, or Service Pack version of Word 2002, the TOC creates just fine on my computer in the exact same document.
Any tips are GREATLY appreciated!
