Paragraph symbol

I have a paragraph symbol at the beginning of my email messages, in front of the cursor. I have tried using the Paragraph symbol "Show/Hide" button to no evail. The symbol just stays ahead of any text that is typed in the email. Can someone tell me how to delete this? I'm working with Outlook 2003

There originally where a multitude of these symbols and uninstallin I Hate Spam got rid of all but the remaining one.
