Parameter query - list?

Hi,

I've searched previous posts for information about having
a drop-down list in a parameter query, but when I try to
do as they suggest (i.e. put something like [Forms]!
[frmName]![Name] in the criteria section), all I get is
the expression in the parameter dialogue box.

Is there something simple I am missing? I use Access 97 if
that helps.
