parent to children forms

I am trying to create two forms or metadata so that the initial form or
metadata has a threaded link to follow up reseponses. In essence one form or
metadata content (parent) which then has responses through a child form or
metadata content that is different.

In essence a bit like a discussion forum, but the main initial thread
collects different content than the chid (ren) responses.

Help.

You can have rule action which open additional forms.

However to truly link the data, you would need a backend database to collect
the data and keep these relationships. Then each form could be used to
interact with and build the specific information.

Let me know if you would like to see an example.
