Part of file missing

Hey guys: my computer is in a stage where it shuts down at random
times. I am sending it in in 3 weeks, but in the meantime I have been
working on a powerpoint presentation. Because of the shutdown problem,
i was constantly saving the program. apparently, while i was saving it,
my Macbook decided to shutdown on me. Therefore, when i tried to reopen
the file, it could not because "part of the file is missing". how can i
fix this? it doesnt show up in any autorecovery files and if i find it
anywhere in past history folders, it reverts to the same message.
HELP!! can i put my computer back in time to yesterday when i had an
almost-complete presentation prepared?

Just for future reference..... because computers are so unreliable....

When you save your file... put a little version (or edit) number on the end
of the filename

eg.
MyPresentations-v01.ppt

next time you save
MyPresentations-v02.ppt

etc
