If you have someone who works part-time - say 50%, would it be better
to set their resource units to 50% or their daily work hours to 4?

Thanks,

Andy,

It's best to set up a resource calendar for the resource showing a 4
hour working day. If you set them up on a task at 50% units, that
would leave another 50% for another project manager to use, and they
would show up as being undersutlized in Resource Availability views.
It's best to show them 100% utilized for their half-day.

Hope this helps,

I think what herefers to is the max. units resource field, not the units
field in the tasl voew. So, f you set the max. units to 50%, a resource will
indeed show overallocated in availability views if 2 pm's both assign it 50%
to a task over the same period of time.
Consequently, in my view, there's no real difference between setting the
max. units field to 50% and setting daily working hours to 4. However, I
prefer to set max. units, since this provides valuable information in
resource views. If you set all resources to 100% max. units, you have no idea
how works part-time and who works full-time.

I hope I get this right, correct me if not.

Best Regards,
Peter
