Partial Line Printing with Word

When I try to print a black and white document from Word, the first line
comes out fine, the second line is missing, the third is cut in half
horizontally, and then it repeats. I do not have any trouble printing from
Powerpoint, Excel, my email, or printing a webpage. I also do not have
this trouble printing in color in Word. Only happens with black print from
Word docs. Very strange. Any suggestions?

Hello Anne,

I'm just taking a stab in the dark here, but you may need to get the latest
driver for your printer if you have upgraded operating systems.

Speaking of operating systems, you've landed in a discussion group for users
of Mac versions of Word (not your fault: it's a charming foible of MS's
"discussions" web interface, which I see you used). Most people who get here
via that route are using Windows. Mac versions differ variously from Windows
versions. Although several people here use both PCs and Macs and may give
you an answer soon, it's likely that more people in a PC group have
experienced your specific problem. Here's where all the groups are listed:

Make sure you give explicit details of your operating system, version of
Word, brand of printer -- and whether all Word documents are affected or,
say, new documents you have created. This will help people to diagnose your
problem more quickly.

Hi Clive,

Thanks for the reply and the scoop about me being in a MAC user discussion
group. I will see about reposting this question in the appropriate forum.

I took your advice and checked to be sure I had the latest driver for my
printer. I did. But, I decided to uninstall and reinstall the drivers
anyway.....no luck. The problem persists.

FYI - I am running Word 2003, operating system is XP, printer is HP
Photosmart C6180 and the problem occurs will old and new Word docs.
