Partially Converted Database

I recently went to synch my database to the network. When this happened, my
computer shutdown. When I restarted the computer and went to reopen my
database, I received an error that my database is in an unexpected state. It
states that the database has been converted from a prior version of Microsoft
Access using the DAO CompactDatabase method instead of the Convert Database
command on the Tools menu. This has left the database in a partially
converted state. Does anyone know of this? How can I revert this back to its
original state?

Try creating a new (blank) database, and importing from the problem one:
File | Get External

Thanks for your response. I just tried that but it still won't open that
partially converted database.

You could try Microsoft stand-alone utility:

Ok, so I tried the stand-alone utility and I am able to recover some data but
I am not able to recover the most recent. Is there another way to recover
this data? I even tried to access the replicated database and because it was
affected by the synch., I am still not able to open it. If I could save and
access the replicated version, I would be able to get access to the lost
data. I have spent so much time on this database that I really don't want to
have to restart the design and data entry from August. Thanks again for your
help on this.

Sounds like you have tried most of the things you can do for yourself.

Thanks for your help. I actually have another question. I had my backup file
which is not the most up to date version. I could potentially use this one to
restart but the permissions are set to admin but I am not able to create
forms and their is probably some other restrictions. In addition, I created a
replica from the back up and I cannot make design changes on it. How can I
change the permissions so that I could at least restart using the backup
database and the newly replicated database?

Perhaps you could create a new, blank, unsecured database.

Then open the secured one, and export the objects to the new unsecure one.

You could ask in the group microsoft.public.access.security

Thanks, that is exactly what I ended up doing. I still have some minor design
changes to make but the data is pretty much in tact. Thanks again for your
