password administration

My daughter has a Dell laptop running Windows Professional
2000. She has used it for over a year and it would simply
boot up when turning it on.

Somehow the password adminstration has been activated. It
now comes up with a screen with the first line
reading "pcuser" and the second blank. I have
tried "administrator" and "oemcomputer" but nothing
works. I cannot access anything, not even the main screen
and Control Panel. I am locked out.

Any ideas on how I can bypass or access the system?
