I saved a file and password protected (using the highest encryption option)
on an English version of office xp (and english windows xp). I am now stuck
with a computer with chinese windows and a chinese edition of office 2000.
when i try to open my file, word gives me the following error:

The document name or path is not valid. Try these suggestions.
* Check the file permissions for the document or drive.
* Use the File Open dialog box to locate the document.
C:\...\My Documents\filename

(in Chinese, that is)

how can i open my file? i am 100% positive that the password i am inputing
(which is in english) is correct.

I don't know whether the Chinese makes any difference, but I suspect the
version of Office does.

The higher levels of encryption in Office XP are not available in Office 2K
and, therefore, cannot be decrypted. If you want to be able to open an
encrypted document in Word 2000 you must ensure that you save it in Word
2002 with an appropriate encryption level.
