password expiration notifications

Hi,

Does anyone know how to receive password expiration notifications
within Entourage 2004?

I have read through Microsoft Office for Mac 20004 Resource Kit 2 and
it mentions about this feature being possible but doesn't tell you how
to implement.

We are running Exchange 2003 SP2 and the Mac clients are running
Office 11.3.3

Well the expirations are usually ActiveDirectory based anyway (as on
most networks).

I don't think Entourage can provide you with the information
unfortunately (though I really really wish it could).

Password notification support in Entourage was introduced with Entourage
sp2 (11.2.0)

Nothing needs to be enabled within Entourage. If you receive
notifications in Windows then you should receive notifications in
Entourage.

If you're not seeing them then you may need to select Preferences from
the Entourage menu, select Notification on the left and click the Reset
Confirmation Dialogs button. (I may be wrong about this button. I can't
recall if this resets the "Do not show again..." button, but it's the
only option I see.) Also, you may need to make sure that you're Exchange
server address is set to the name of an internal server rather than the
address of your OWA server.

You can click a "don't show this message any more" box when the dialog
appears but to the best of my knowledge I don't know how to reset the
dialog. Nothing exists in Entourage to reset it.

Well mine sure isn't. I refused to leave the control of my Mac in the
hands of Computer Support people who bluntly stated that they refused to
support Mac users :->

Though Entourage doesn't provide me withthe warnings, we have a few PC
laying around and I can control a few more through Remote desktop
connection.

I'm trying to hack into that to be able to test that here. THe problem
is that the net admin have the nasty habbit of moving people around from
server to server and the address changes every so often.
I used Outlook on a PC to figure out the current address and even though
the server doesn't have a root page for OW, if you enter the entire link
with /exchange, you actually manage to get through OWA.

I'll know in 3 days if it makes a difference ;-) (though I would have
expected to get the "your password expires in 3 days" notification).

Well I can confirm now that this is now available on all configurations:
- I am indeed connected straight to the backend server
- the password is expired

and the warning I get mentions that my login or password is
incorrect.....

I just started receiving ³your password will expire in x days² warnings for
the first time using Entourage/Exchange 2003.
I don¹t know if it was an update or a setting, or both, but it¹s a welcome
addition.
