If I have Word 2000 running on my XP machine, and I open a
password-protected Word document by double-clicking the file name in
Windows Explorer, it pulls up the dialog box for the password dialog
box just fine.
If, however, I try to do the same when Word is not open, Word starts
its normal opening process, then the "Word" icon in the task bar
begins to flash. I click on it once, and Word minimizes. I click on it
again, and the password dialog box appears on top of Windows Explorer.
After entering the password, the dialog box disappears. I click on the
Windows icon in the taskbar, and the document is open.
Any ideas as to the cause of this? It's annoying.
I've re-installed with no luck. I also have Word 2000 installed on my
laptop (Windows ME) and don't have this problem.
Thanks.
