I know this has been addressed by MS and in lots of posts, but I have gone
through them and tried the recommendations with no success.
Outlook 2003 fully patched, Windows XP SP2 fully patched.
After moving a computer from a local account to a domain account I moved the
mail into the domain account with the file and settings transfer wizard.
Since the new account was created Outlook will no longer save the POP3
password even with the check box checked. I have removed the protected
storage keys and recreated. I have verified that the correct accounts have
the correct rights, and I have reinstalled Office 2003 with no change in the
behavior. I have also created a new profile with no success.
Every time I check for mail I get prompted. After I enter the password from
the prompt with the checkbox to save the password on I can go into the
account settings and it will show that a password is saved, but it will still
prompt for password on the next send/receive.
I am going to try JeePee's solution to check the User Shell Folders for an
AppData folder and then I will have tried everything except a reinstall.
