Password protect embedded files

In the help files, it says that audio and video recordings are not password
protected with the secure sections because they are held in separate files.

Is this the case for all filetypes?

So, the only way to protect a pdf or picture is to print it to the screen?

Hello Isaiah,

OneNote will password protect its .ONE file (what we think of as a section).

Audio and video files are not stored inside the .ONE file. They are stored
in a different location on the hard drive. For instance, on my Vista machine
they are stored in c:\users\john\appdata\local\microsoft\onenote\12.0\audio
cache

Other embedded file types are stored in c:\...same
path\12.0\OneNoteOfflineCache_Files

To encrypt them, you would need to encrypt the hard drive.

I'm not sure what you mean by protecting a PDF and printing it to the screen.

Thank you.

What I meant with the pdf files, is that if you wanted them password
protected you would have to print them in OneNote and then delete the pdf
file. Anyway, you answered it.

Don't know if there's been any demand for it, but it would be nice to see
encryption of embedded files in a future edition.

Hi John. Isn't that the audio and video files are both in the .one
file and in the cache? And that the cache file is used if present?
Thx.
