Password Protected directories/pages

Can anyone tell me how this acheived in Frontpage please?

My server has Frontpage 2002 extensions installed but I
cannot seem to restrict viewing of pages only the actions
allowed on them. There is a facility to do this if I have
the extensions taken off but it isn't compatible with
frontpage. Disabling the extensions mean I will have to
rebuild the website without using frontpage features and
upload via ftp.

Has anyone any ideas please ?

If your host allows subwebs, place the content
you want protected in a subweb and
then password protect the subweb.
