A user has protected fields in a important Word document and had left the
company-Can anyone say is there a way to unprotect the fields??

Thanks.

If it's just protected for forms, use Insert | File to insert it in a new
document. This removes the protection.

If you need a password to open the document then that's a whole new ball
game. The document is encrypted and can't be opened without the password.
Your best bet is to contact the ex-employee.

Yes, I read carelessly and overlooked the "to open" after "password." A
document can be protected for forms without being password-protected, but of
course that would not usually cause a problem in the first place. <g>
