password protected part of web

ive search this sight and tried to create a password protected subweb and i
must be retarded.do i create a new folder in a existing site im using
fp2003.im lost please help

You have to open the live/remote site directly in FP on the server, then create a folder, then right
click and convert to subsite, then open the subsite, then Tools | Site Settings, and if your web
host allows you to set permissions, the option will be available.

Also your web host must allow you to create subsites / subwebs.

BTW: Windows XP SP2 is great!!!!

Got it thanx thomas,live is the key word and The Host does not allow it thx
and yes xp sp2 is good

Create a new folder or select an existing folder that you want to make a
subweb.
Right-click the folder and select convert to web.
Open your remote site, select remote website properties, under publishing,
tick the box that says include subsites. Then publish your main site. Go
live to your main site, select tools, server, you can set your password,
permissions etc. there.
Be advised that some hosts do not allow subwebs, but try the above, if it
works you're good to go.
