Passwords

Armin

I programed an interactive set of woksheets. Each work sheet used th
same password. In total I have over 400 sheets all protected with th
same password. Today I could not open any of them.

It is a simply 4 consecutive numbers no upper or lower case, I hav
been working with the same number in the development of all th sheet
over past 4 months.

So I have either gone mad and believe the password that I am using i
correct while in fact that the previous four months I actually used
different number.

Or something has happened to change the number or cause the progam no
to accept the old password.

Any have a similar experience? or solutions to being locked out.

Armin,

I don't know why your password should have changed.
You can however try to open a sheet by this code.

Make any sheet you wish to open the activesheet and then run this
subroutine.
It is (in an normal case) guaranteed to open a "normal" protected sheet.
(Run the routine, it comes with a messagebox with a strange looking password
like AAABB etc; answer the question with OK and the sheet will be
unprotected)
Whether it will work here I don't know.
Succes

(BTW : If it does work, there is a second routine available, which "loops"
through all your sheets. Post back and I will try to find back the link to
the website where it can be found.).
If it doesn't work, its not a question f

Sorry, forgot to add the code.

Sub PasswordBreaker_Sheet()
'Author unknown
'Breaks worksheet password protection.
Dim i As Integer, j As Integer, k As Integer
Dim l As Integer, m As Integer, n As Integer
Dim i1 As Integer, i2 As Integer, i3 As Integer
Dim i4 As Integer, i5 As Integer, i6 As Integer
On Error Resume Next
For i = 65 To 66: For j = 65 To 66: For k = 65 To 66
For l = 65 To 66: For m = 65 To 66: For i1 = 65 To 66
For i2 = 65 To 66: For i3 = 65 To 66: For i4 = 65 To 66
For i5 = 65 To 66: For i6 = 65 To 66: For n = 32 To 126
ActiveSheet.Unprotect Chr(i) & Chr(j) & Chr(k) & _
Chr(l) & Chr(m) & Chr(i1) & Chr(i2) & Chr(i3) & _
Chr(i4) & Chr(i5) & Chr(i6) & Chr(n)
If ActiveSheet.ProtectContents = False Then
MsgBox "One usable password is " & Chr(i) & Chr(j) & _
Chr(k) & Chr(l) & Chr(m) & Chr(i1) & Chr(i2) & _
Chr(i3) & Chr(i4) & Chr(i5) & Chr(i6) & Chr(n)
Exit Sub
End If
Next: Next: Next: Next: Next: Next
Next: Next: Next: Next: Next: Next
End Sub

By the way the code is not mine. I keep forgetting who wrote it, but it
surely wasn't me.
It does however work!

Thanks JE.

That saves me (if it works) looking for the link.
I know it was available from an equivalent question about a week ago, where
you gave the same reply.
