Paste from buffer into variable

I need to capture the value of the paste into a variable. How do I do that?
FYI, the variable I need to define is based on the value on a certain
position in the activedocument, which I have found and copied. Now, I need
to "put" that value into a variable. Is this possible?

If you've come so far to find, select and copy the targettext,
below code lines will store whatever is selected into variable: MyVar

Dim MyVar As String
MyVar = Selection.Range
