paste from CorelDraw

When I paste a diagram from CorelDraw 9 (or 8) into Word 2002 (SP3) using
Paste Special - Picture, the graphic appears fine and prints fine. However,
when I use Paste Special - CorelDRAW 9.0 graphic object, the image is not
quite right on the screen and also prints not quite right. For example,
arrowheads can go missing or arrows of the same thickness no longer have the
same thickness as each other. Dotted lines can become continuous. I have
tried it on two different PCs with different printers attached and I get the
same problem.

I would like to be able to edit my graphics from within Word if necessary,
so would prefer to paste a CorelDraw object and not a picture. Is there a
solution or is this a problem with the software? Please help.

I have a feeling this worked before when I had earlier versions of CorelDraw
and Word, but I cannot be sure about that.

Arrows and lines are easy to create in Word. Pasting a Corel creation isn't always
predictable, especially lines. How about exporting from Corel as a wmf and importing
into Word, this works well. It then can be ungrouped and edited.

Thanks, but these diagrams are rather complicated and it would take a long
time to redo the lines and arrows in Word. Do you mean that "Paste Special -
CorelDRAW 9.0 graphic object" is just not reliable in Word 2002? In other
words it is a known problem between the two software packages and not a
problem I can resolve by changing settings somewhere?

Would I be likely to have the same problem with the latest versions of
each - Word 2003 and CorelDraw 12?

I have had no problems with Corel 12 and Office. Earlier Corel programs have not
responded well with copy/paste. Corel 12 takes awhile to finally paste into Word, but
when it does it retains all the attributes. Corel 12 has integrated Office in many
ways. Publisher will balk now and then with the paste, actually it is Corel that
balks, the infamous CARM error will come up, but the paste succeeds anyway.
