Paste Help

Hi

Help this is driving me nuts, when I copy some characters from say outlook
express and then open any word document and paste I always get a small
picture instead of the characters, if I try paste special options the
options shown are bitmap or device independent bit map instead of the more
normal formatted text or unformatted etc etc, how do I change the default
paste format options so I can just paste the characters as it always used to
be able to do?
