paste options button

The paste options button does not appear in Word anymore, although the box is
ticked in the Advanced Word Options. It sort of stop suddenly, but it does
work in Excel. It's driving me crazy! Checking the web, I found other people
have the same proble, but no solutions posted as far as I can tell.
Any help, please?
