Paste Options Icon does not show

I am using Excel 2003. I am trying to copy part of a worksheet to a new worksheet. I want the copy to be exactly the same as the original. When I Copy/Paste the column widths do not match and it looks like a picture over the new worksheet. The help system tells me I should look for the Paste OptionsIcon to the right of the first cell of the area I want to copy but the icon doesnt show. I have gone to Options> >Edit>Show Paste Options and it is ticked but noi Icon. Am I doing something wrong?
